Keratoconic Management

keratoconic

Keratoconus is a disease that, over time, causes the cornea to become cone-shaped, thin, and irregular. This causes blurred, distorted vision because the cornea cannot properly refract light due to the defective shape. Those with keratoconus often see multiple images of a single object, have diminished night vision, and experience frequent prescription changes with sub-standard vision.

Keratoconus can be managed with specialty hybrid contact lenses and scleral lenses that create – in effect – a ‘new’ cornea through which light is correctly refracted. Keratoconus must be monitored consistently by your eye care practitioner to ensure that your vision will not decrease and to ascertain when corrective surgery may be necessary. At Wise Vision Care, we continue to successfully manage keratoconus and other irregular corneas with such technologically advanced contact lenses.
